Foster Program
Labyrinth Training Center (LTC) fosters, trains, and helps re-home rescued horses from reputable 501(c)(3) horse rescues. The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) estimates that there are over 200,000 “unwanted” horses needing homes in the United States in any given year. LTC supports regional horse rescues by bringing in foster horses for training with the goal of identifying that individual horse’s suitable occupation and finding them a forever home. The five permanent residents at LTC (Isa, Ember,, Pete, Sailor, & Willow) are rescued horses and serve as program horses for the Summer Camp and “Spa Day” programs. LTC uses rescued horses as a way to help provide a home and occupation for “unwanted” horses, to demonstrate that rescued horses can make great partners, and to provide program participants with inspiration and examples of the resilience rescued horses embody despite their varied backgrounds.
If you are interested in fostering or adopting a rescued horse, please reach out to the following organizations with which we have worked and are in our region. They are all doing incredible and difficult work and could use all the support we can provide!
Days End Farm Horse Rescue (Maryland)
Heart of Phoenix Horse Rescue (West Virginia)
Hope’s Legacy Horse Rescue (Virginia)
